Supported metallic nanoparticles prepared by an organometallic route to boost the electrocatalytic conversion of CO2

Electrocatalysts based on metal nanoparticles (metal = Ru, Fe and Pt), prepared by an organometallic (OM) route, supported carbon nanotubes (CNTs), have been studied in the electro-catalytic reduction of CO2 comparison with those using inorganic salts to deposit (NPs) over CNTs (INORG route). The OM route allows obtain electrocatalysts superior performances terms productivity especially turnover frequency, enhanced formation C1 products (methanol formic acid) respect C2+ (acetic acid, acetone, isopropanol ethanol). Particularly for Ru samples, there is increase up nearly two order magnitude cumulative TOF a sample equivalent loading mean particle size but INORG route. Carbon selectivity methanol reaches interesting value 65 %. analysis this intrinsic boosting both activity electrocatalytic suggests role performance small oxide patches formed as residues process removal ligands present
